As for lighting, I prefer warm, non-directional dimmable light such as cove light or from under a nightstand, and I hide outlets so the design isn't interrupted. I use artwork as an accessory to complement the overall design. And accessories like a carafe, a tray for jewelry, and books can make it feel more personal.
The foremost strategy for making a small bedroom seem bigger is to cut down on the clutter. Discard things that no longer serve any purpose, and always remember to keep your clothes folded, your shoes stored away and your accessories neatly arranged on shelves and in cupboards. The messier a room, the more cramped it looks.
