In the dining room of this Illinois home, Jennifer Kranitz of Chicago-based firm PROjECT used silk drapery as the backdrop to a pair of African portraits, allowing the subtle shimmer of the fabric to create a contrast with the chains used to hang the artwork and balance the drama of the Mongolian fur ladder back dining chairs and Oly bubble chandelier.
In tighter rooms, laid-back bohemian style adds big personality without wasting too much space. In this New York living room, a right-scaled sectional, sweater knit pillows, a wool rug and a shelf system do the trick.
