It’s always amazing how a little design know-how can turn even a fairly inexpensive material like subway tile into a stunning design feature. In this historic Portland, Oregon, home, white subway tile with dark grout creates a graphic element, especially used in such a generous dose and to wrap the bathtub.
Designer Gil Walsh used scalloped valances and drapes to create a rich look in the living room of this stately three-story Georgian home, choosing fabrics with colors of cocoa, burgundy and teal to echo the Oriental carpet, which was the foundation of the room's design.
